From Road Trips to Leadership Changes: EBRC’s 2024 Blog Favourites

EBRC’s 2024 Blog Favourites

As 2024 winds down, it’s time to look at what topics our blog readers enjoyed the most. Our new website went live at the end of February, and a new blog was available monthly.

Our top 3 blogs include the big change at the Elgin Business Resource Centre (EBRC), a road trip in Elgin County, and what surprised our summer student.

Top 3 Blogs for 2024

#3. This Summer, I Didn’t Expect This
Summer Student Payton started working when she was fifteen years old, and in the last three years, she has had four different jobs. None of her jobs felt like community, family, or an environment she truly enjoyed working in. That is until she started working as a summer student at the EBRC and she wasn’t expecting this to happen.

#2. Road Tripping through Vibrant Elgin County
This spring, EBRC was road tripping through Elgin County. The objective was to introduce new team members to the areas of Elgin County that we serve while popping into as many businesses as possible to introduce ourselves and gather feedback on how to support businesses better. We received valuable feedback that helped create our monthly workshops.

#1. Smooth Leadership Transition at EBRC
On April 1st, Kevin Jackson retired as EBRC’s General Manager, and a new era began. His hand-picked successor, Assistant General Manager Sarah Foshay, took over the reins.

Kevin Jackson said he expected that in six months, everyone would be saying, “Kevin, who? That’s the way it should be. I couldn’t have a better replacement.”

What to Expect in 2025

Our blog will continue to showcase our clients, who are part of the seven unique communities of St. Thomas and Elgin County.

Sarah Foshay, General Manager mentioned, she was very optimistic about the future.

We will continue supporting our clients with free business advice and promoting all levels of sustainable business with business loans, from new start-ups to large established companies to lending opportunities. Payton Currah, our summer student, remarked, “The way the Elgin Business Resource Centre committed to helping their clients puts me in awe.”

Our social media will provide entrepreneurship tips and lessons learned from business owners and leaders in the community.
As always, EBRC is your one-stop location for FREE business advice, business planning, business loans, and great networking opportunities in St. Thomas and Elgin County.
