After losing another job due to company restructuring, I was in a place of transition where I believed was the time to go out on my own and create my own opportunity. The question was… HOW? After some research looking for resources, I came across the Elgin Business Resource Centre. At the time they were looking to arrange a new session of the SEB program to help people on the right road to becoming entrepreneurs. I had always thought of starting out on my own, but never really knew how to do that and found more comfort in the regular pay cheque. EBRC Showed me the way, so to speak.
The SEB Program was the best thing I ever did. Kevin Jackson facilitated this program at the time and one thing that really allowed me to stick with this entrepreneurial journey was Kevin’s honesty in how to make a business work. Nothing was sugar coated. Those of us in the program were taught how to write a business plan and make it a live document in our business to guide us into this new world. Kevin was very honest and open with success based on the plan and where to fine tune it. Needless to say, this allowed me to start my business with all blinders off and with the reality of the business world. I credit this program in starting me into the successful business I have today. I am now nearly 11 years into this business journey and will never turn back.
